The South Campus music department will host a recital 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28 featuring Alba Alvarez from Encarnación, Paraguay, and TCC music professor Oscar Dressler.
Dressler said Alvarez has several music degrees from Paraguay and teaches voice and operatic techniques.
“Alvarez has represented Paraguay in international music festivals in Sweden, Canada, Uruguay and Argentina,” he said.
Dressler also has a passion for music and teaching — he has master’s and doctorate degrees in music.
He said he’s presented “lecture-recitals” in Italy and was listed in Who’s Who in America for his research on the impact and effect of piano studies on students with learning disabilities.
“Music and song for two brand new grand pianos will be featuring the works of baroque, classical, romantic and contemporary composers,” Dressler said.
Alvarez, a soprano, will sing while Dressler will accompany her on the piano. Admission is free, and food will be served following the recital.
“This is a chance for people to enjoy quality music,” Dressler said.
