The former director of the Fort Worth Women’s Business Center will come to South Campus Nov. 3 to share her story of being a young divorced mother with small children, returning to college and rising to a corporate executive level with a large financial corporation.
Catherine Simpson will present Women in Control Taking Charge in 2011— Exploring Our Options Together as part of the Women in New Roles success seminars. The seminar is open to the public with the emphasis on transitioning women.
Simpson said her goal is to show past accomplishments of women and help her audience understand that they are often the stumbling blocks for their own goals.
“This will allow them to marvel at the women who blazed the paths they can now take,” she said. “The major point is make your life count. Find a purpose.”
Triesha Light, South Women In New Roles program coordinator, said this seminar will inspire and empower women as they look at future options.
“Since 9/11, success is not enough,” she said. “A person must find significance, purpose or meaning in a career, or they won’t stick with it. This seminar will provide direction through hands-on discussions for those searching for significance.”
South’s WINR program is sponsoring this seminar 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in the SSTU Texas Room.
