A musical collaboration between the NE Orchestra and the NE Strings will perform Toy Symphony Nov. 22.
The orchestra will feature students from the string, woodwind and percussion ensemble as well as brass students from the jazz band.
“The strings students featured are currently taking private lessons at the NE music department,” said music associate professor Hsinyi Wang.
In addition to Toy Symphony, student musicians will play pieces from the classical and romantic periods with an ensemble of strings, piano and guitars.
They will perform music selections from the Sound of the Music as well as dances and folk tunes from Bach’s Violin Concerto in A minor, Brahms’ Sonata for Cello and Piano and Bach’s Suite No. 2 for unaccompanied cello.
“As the title suggests, Toy Symphony includes three types of bird whistles with various wind and percussion performed along side with the symphonic instruments,” Wang said.
The concert will be held 7-9 p.m. in NE Campus’ College Hall (NCAB 1111).
