Statistics show that more than 60 million adults and more than 9 million young people are obese. On a mission to reverse these statistics is Lona Sandon, the Dietetic Association spokeswoman.
Sandon will present “Healthy Eating at its Best” Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m. in the NSTU Center Corner on NE Campus.
Sandon’s presentation will focus on foods that people should incorporate into their diets for a healthy heart.
Sandon is an associate professor at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. She handles admissions and recruitment activities for prospective students interested in becoming registered dietitians through the Coordinated Program in Clinical Dietetics at UT Southwestern Allied Health Sciences School.
Sandon has several publications and presentations including “Are You Sabotaging Your Workouts?” Redbook Magazine, November 2001, and “Nutrition for Weight Loss,” Dewayne Owens Show, Dallas Community Television, May 1999.
The TCC health services, sponsor of the event, expects more than 60 attendees.
