The breezeway area between SE Campus’ two buildings recently acquired a grander view following a garden dedication on Sept. 7.
The Allan Saxe Garden was dedicated in conjunction with a TCC Foundation scholarship established by SE adjunct government and world languages instructor Allan Saxe. This semester, Kaelin Cook-Powell was the scholarship’s first recipient.
“Dr. Saxe endowed a scholarship at a very generous level,” said Liz Sisk, foundation donor relations officer.
Sisk said Saxe wanted the garden located on SE Campus, where he teaches and where he could view it most often.
“Saxe is a beloved professor at UTA, and he absolutely adores TCC,” Sisk said. “His contributions make really great things happen.”
SE lead groundskeeper Mark Villanueva said the garden consists partially of a palo verde tree, Texas sage, some yuccas and native grasses.
“It looks lovely,” he said.
Saxe thought a nearby vegetable garden built by students would make a nice add-on in the future, he said.
