NW dancers will illustrate their talent in Assorted Pieces Friday, May 4.
This dance concert will feature a variety of different dance styles.
The event will allow the students in the dance program to show the various styles of dance moves taught throughout the semester.
The concert is directed by Lacreacia Sanders, assistant professor of dance.
Sanders, who has been the dance director on NW Campus for three years, said the informal recital will be performed by the spring dance technique classes.
“ The individual pieces are from the dance classes and include all levels of dancing styles,” she said.
Of the many different types of dance to be performed during the recital, one will be executed by The Jazz II class.
“ The first piece is called Black Sweat, and the dancers will be performing to music by Prince,” she said.
The jazz dance is a combination of traditional jazz and hip hop with a definite jazz funk style, Sanders said.
The students will also perform Say Goodbye to music by Chris Brown.
A collaboration between the instructor and the students produced this lyrical jazz piece. w
This piece has a mixture of traditional jazz, ballet and modern dance combined into one dance, Sanders
said.
The concert lets the NW dance students show the audience what they have been working on all semester … Assorted Pieces.
The free dance concert will be 1-2 p.m. in WSTU 1303-1305 and is open to the public. Reservations are not required.
