Students can learn emotional intelligence and ways to make better emotional decisions at a Stress Management workshop Oct. 23.
Carisa Givens, SE counselor, will give her fourth workshop at 11:30 a.m. in NBSS 1103 on NE Campus. It is open to all students.
“Any students that feel emotionally overwhelmed are welcome,” she said.
The workshop will be interactive, and students can participate. The activities will include examples of everyday situations that cause students emotional distress and ways to handle them by making smart decisions.
The workshop will discuss how students can handle stressful situations in college and everyday life with emotional intelligence.
“Students tend to become overwhelmed and overemotional,” she said. “This can lead to decisions that affect academics.”
Good feedback has been received from the workshop the past three years, Givens said. Students have returned for counseling or just to say that they have used what they learned.
How to deal with priorities including relationships and classes will also be covered.
“We will be discussing how to juggle priorities and emotions, how to be more in tune with yourself and relationships,” she said.
