While most faculty and students are preparing for midterms, the dance faculty at NW Campus is preparing for their second annual Faculty/Guest Artist Dance Concert Wednesday, March 12.

The faculty will showcase their work through various styles of dance, including ballet and modern. Faculty dance artists and choreographers include Dr. Linda Quinn, Lacreacia Sanders, Amy L. Ross, Jeffrey Kaplan and Laurie Sanda.

The instructors will also host a dance workshop throughout the day starting at 8 a.m. and following the faculty and guest concert at 5:15 p.m. The workshop consists of several classes taught by the NW dance faculty and guest choreographers.

“As a choreographer for this event, we seek to encourage audiences to explore dance from various concepts, ideas and stories that develop from movement to art,” Ross, associate professor of dance, said.

“Currently enrolled TCC dance students are encouraged to attend the morning and afternoon workshops at no charge.” she said.

Special guests include the Muscle Memory Dance Theatre, a Dallas/Fort Worth professional modern dance company that has been featured throughout the metroplex and across the nation. A company member and TCC alumna, Kiera Amison will teach the workshop’s 8 a.m. Ballet Master Class.

Phase 2 Dance Ensemble, based in Fort Worth/Houston, will also feature a few of its contemporary dance pieces. Sanders, NW associate professor of dance and ensemble member, will perform a solo feature.

The 2 p.m. faculty and guest concert is open to the general public and will be in the WTLO Theatre Northwest.

Cost is free for faculty/staff, $1 for students and $5 for general admission. No reservations are required.
