Brandon Bachemin, Sermin Omerovic and Christian Acosta won the NE Campus student-staff pool tournament April 4 in the game room.

Student activities sponsored the tournament, which was a double-elimination format and saw 32 people participate.

The event was open to students, faculty and staff.

“Some of the guys had been asking about having a pool tournament,” Tracy Adame, game room attendant, said.

“As a game room attendant, I decided to go to Dr. [Paula] Vastine, who’s head of student activities, and asked if we could have a pool tournament.”

The game room has recently received new equipment, and Adame said the pool tournament was a way to promote the new additions and get more people to come and participate in what’s available to students and staff.

“With all the new equipment the game room has received this semester, it was also a positive for promotion of the game room,” she said.

No student had to pay a fee to enter the tournament, and game room attendance has doubled, Adame said.

All of the pool tables in the game room received new felt coverings. As well, new billiard balls and pool cues have been purchased.

Monetary prizes were awarded: First place received $75, second place received $50, and third place received $25.
