Finance focus of symposium

TCC’s Sixth Annual Women’s Symposium Global Dialogues: Building Sisterhood will feature speakers, networking, exhibits and workshops.

Registration for the event is 8:15 a.m. Saturday, March 31, in the Rotunda (SRTA 1102) on South Campus.

“ [Students] can expect a day of educational enrichment with a focus on financial planning,” Trish Light, Women’s Symposium committee chair, said.

The event will include more than 30 exhibits and a scholarship auction.

Mary Lynn Seebeck, author of American Dream Women: Insuring Women’s Wealth, will present Financial Education for Future Readiness at 9 a.m.

Dr. Elva LeBlanc, NW Campus president, will speak to the entire group at 11 a.m. Her presentation, 21st Century Women in Leadership Roles, will address four key questions: What is it like for women at the top? What can be done to increase the numbers in the future? Is a work/family balance possible? Do men and women have different management styles?

Light said the focus is on empowerment and inspiration.

The event is sponsored by South Campus Women’s History Month Planning Committee and Women in New Roles programs on South, SE and NE campuses.

The free event is open to both men and women.
