NW Campus served up some volleyball action Feb. 7-8 with its biannual tournament.
Kiss My Pass swept the three-team field, winning all four of its matches in dominant fashion by not losing a single game. It won the tournament with a match to spare.
“That was the clinching game,” Kiss My Pass player Patrick Bittrick said after the championship was confirmed. “We don’t really have to try anymore.”
Bittrick said each member did his/her part to claim the title.
“The players were why we won,” he said. “All the guys can hit really well, and then we had really good setters.”
Fellow Kiss My Pass player Andy Sullivan attributed the team’s success to them playing outside of intramurals.
“We’ve been playing in a league together for a long time now,” he said. “We also take a volleyball class together at TCC, so we’ve been practicing.”
Even though Kiss My Pass dominated the entire tournament, Bittrick said his team didn’t lose concentration.
“We just played,” he said. “The score didn’t really matter.”
Sullivan said the lack of teams and winning so easily hampered his experience somewhat.
“It [lack of competition] made it a little less fun,” he said. “Our players gave up and started messing around. I wish there were a lot more teams.
“Last semester, there were five or six, and we played at least eight games instead of just four. It made it a little more fun.”
Kiss My Pass standout Trent Lee echoed that sentiment.
“It was definitely not as fun,” he said. “We ended up playing the same teams both days. There was no diversity.”
Sullivan said while the tournament was not ideal in competition and format, he enjoyed the experience.
“It was not very competitive,” he said, “but it was fun.”
