“TCC will hold its first all-district juried art exhibit this fall.
The exhibit will be in the Fort Worth Community Art Center and feature work by students from all campuses.
The deadline for student entries is Oct 1.
Students can enter up to three pieces.
This is the first time TCC campuses have come together to hold an exhibit in a public space, Anitra Blayton, NE associate professor of art, said.
The selected art will be displayed Nov. 1-30 with an opening reception Nov. 7.
First prize in the juried competition is a $500 purchase award, and second prize is a $350 Zettie Carter ArtisticMerit Award.
Eight merit awards will be available in the various mediums.
Nancy Lamb, a local artist, will be a guest juror for the competition.
Lamb’s work has been featured in various exhibitions and galleries, and a reproduction of her Getting There in Time decorates the Skylink Station in the DFW airport.
“ She is very well-respected among the group,” Devon Nowlin, an SE instructional assistant, said.
To be eligible for compe-tition, the piece must have been completed during a TCC art class.
Nowlin said it doesn’t matter if the art was done as a homework assignment or during free time. The main requirement is that the work was done while the artist was enrolled in a TCC art class.
Each entry also must have been completed from Fall 2006 to the present and be accompanied by an artist statement.
