Jay Iorizzio won first place overall runner in the South Campus Gobble Wobble race, coming in at 13 minutes 18 seconds, and Edward Graves won first place overall walker with 22:45.

The ninth annual Gobble Wobble fall walk-run rewarded 26 other participants as winners in various categories Nov. 14.

Staci Smith, coordinator of the event and HPE instructor, energized the runners with a dance before the race. More than 300 participated in the two-mile race for prizes.

Categories included female runner, female walker, male runner and male walker, each divided into three sub-categories by age: 18-35, 36-55, and 56 and up.

Each first-place winner received a turkey, and each second-place winner received a Cornish hen.

Jack Sims (age 89) and Muriel Bartholemew (age 76) each received a turkey for being the oldest participants.

Special prizes were given to those who placed, and all participants got door prizes.

The event was sponsored by the HPE department, student activities and intramurals. Participants were asked to donate five cans of food for the Tarrant County Food Bank as their registration fee.

Last year, the event donated more than 1,700 pounds to the food bank. The number of pounds this year was 1,646.
