Team T.M.T. took home the SE Campus dodgeball championship Sept. 19 coming back from a 2-0 deficit defeating It’s Easy.

T.M.T. also overcame a controversial headshot call to end the game.

The headshot was called an out as official Zack Kapple explained the call against the It’s Easy player.

Shots to the head “can’t be deliberate,” he said. “His movement was taking him back.”

It’s Easy had been dominating most of the tournament as the players were one of the first two teams to begin the tournament.

“It feels good,” said T.M.T’s Anthony Emmanuel, who had an outstanding day on the court. “Last year, we came in third place.”

T.M.T. beat four teams  — Honey Badgers, S.G.A. (Student Government Association), Spartans and Los Azteca, a two-time champion — to rise to the top.

The round-robin tournament involved six teams. Each of the teams started with five members on their backs until the whistle blew, then they ran to midcourt to grab five dodgeballs sitting on the half-court line.

Health and physical education instructors Shahzad Nazir and Evelyn Parker organized the tournament.

All participants received T-shirts while the champions received two T-shirts and the thrill of victory.
