TakeEd2Bed wins 22-0 in first NE game

Acrobatic catches, long passes and evasive moves that could leave anyone crumbled on the grass wondering what just happened started NE Campus intramural flag football Oct. 10.

With 16 student competitors showing up for the open-invitation event, organizers divided the football players into two teams of seven.

“We usually can do a five-on-five game when we get these things together, but with this number, we went with the sevens-and-substitutes format,” said organizer and referee Luis Suarez.

From the beginning of the game, it was a one-sided affair. Quarterback Edward Margeneau dominated and led his team, TakeEd2Bed, to a decisive 22-0 victory.

Margeneau had 12 completions on 14 attempts for 290 yards and three touchdowns for the day. He also managed to add two interceptions on defense from his free safety position.

To end the game, Margeneau found receiver Edram Mubasher for a 40-yard touchdown strike that sealed the win.

“It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog,” he said. “And they didn’t have a lot of fight in them on Friday.”

The competition will begin its second round of play at 2 p.m. Oct. 17. Instructional associate Laura Bradford said any and everyone can take part at no cost. They just need to come out and have fun.
