Now-Dec. 5 NW student development services is hosting a community service donation drive benefiting Cook Children’s Hospital. Donations accepted include coloring books, paintbrushes, watercolors, children’s DVDs, markers and baby rattles. Cardboard donation boxes can be found across campus.

Now–Dec. 11 TR’s Veterans Day Memorial Wall will be up for the remainder of the semester in the TR Rotunda. Students can support and honor veterans by leaving flowers, letters and other mementos. For more information, contact financial aid director Bill McMullen at william.mcmullen@tccd.edu.

Nov. 19 Interested TR Campus students may receive free, confidential HIV testing 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in health services on the first floor of the East Fork Building. Appointments are encouraged but not required. Students should allow 30-45 minutes for testing.

Nov. 19 Students can participate in the NW Campus Speech Contest 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in the Michael Saenz Conference Center (WACB 1123). Participants are required to prepare one speech between three and 10 minutes long with optional visual aids. Trophies will be awarded to first-sixth places. The event is open to all NW students.

Nov. 19 Students interested in dietetics can attend the Dietetic Technician Program information session 1-2 p.m. in TRTR Action Suite C (fourth level) on TR Campus. This session will discuss possible career paths in dietetics and dietetic technician program requirements.

Nov. 19 The NW Bridge Program will present Goals 1-2:15 p.m. in WFAB 2608 as part of its fall workshop series. Attendees will learn how to set attainable goals and how to achieve them.

Nov. 21 The NW academic learning center will host a Texas Success Initiative workshop 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Walsh Library. Attendees can learn effective test-taking strategies. Nov. 21 NW counselor Anna Hinman presents Mental Health First Aid noon-4 p.m. in the Michael Saenz Conference Center (WACB 1123). The interactive course teaches how to help someone who is developing a mental illness and how to properly respond and understand signs of mental illness. Those who attend this session and a Dec. 5 session will be eligible for certification as a mental health first aid provider. Limited seating is available, and registration is required. Nov. 21 TR’s center for leadership development presents the 25th Leadership eXperience Summit: Accidental Leadership 1:30-3:30 p.m. in Action A (TRTR fourth level). Keynote speaker Juanita Pahdopony will share her experience as interim president of Comanche Nation College. Nov. 21 The Family Empowerment Center will host the Free Legal Clinic for Veterans and Spouses of Deceased Veterans to offer legal advice without regard to financial eligibility.
