Now-Oct. 23 SE’s Judith J. Carrier Library is host to Dust, Drought, and Dreams Gone Dry: A Traveling Exhibit on SE Campus. The display describes the lives of people during the 1930s Dust Bowl. For more information, contact library services assistant director Tracey Minzenmayer at 817-515-3388.

Sept. 2-3 South Campus will have navigation stations as part of its Welcome Back Week celebration 7:30-8:30 a.m. and 5:30-6:30 p.m. at various areas around campus. Any of the four stations will help students find buildings and offer campus maps and light snacks.

Sept. 2 South Campus’ student activities will host Rocking at the Rec as part of its Welcome Back Week 3-6 p.m. in the SHPE gym and yoga studio. Students will have the chance to eat, socialize and get a look at the intramural sports available on South.

Sept. 2-3 As part of Welcome Week, NE student activities will celebrate the new semester 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the NTAB lobby, the chessboard area and the NSTU north hallway. Festivities include snacks, free giveaways and information about student organizations and events.

Sept. 2 South student activities will host a Faculty FAQ 12:30-2:30 p.m. in the SSTU Living Room. Students can hear from faculty about different teaching styles, expectations of students, what to do if class is canceled and more.

Sept. 2 TR evening students can visit the Coffee Shop 5:30-7 p.m. for a meet-and-greet with faculty, staff and other students and free coffee and pastries.

Sept. 3 South student activities will host a Toro Tailgate as part of its Welcome Back Week 12:30-2:30 p.m. in the SSTU dining hall. Students are encouraged to stop by and visit with different departments and campus clubs. Sept. 3 TR students can enjoy free breakfast and a chance to meet the president, vice presidents and divisional deans at Pastries with the President 10-11 a.m. in the Riverfront Café. For more information, contact student activities coordinator Eddie Brassart at edward.brassart@tccd.edu.

Sept. 4 SE’s Welcome Back Week includes Feedback Fiesta 1-2 p.m. in The Bistro. Students will be treated to nachos and salsa on a first-come, first served basis. For more information, contact student activities at 817-515-3595.

Sept. 4 TR students can discuss their questions and concerns about the first week of school at a free lunch forum noon-1 p.m. in the Riverfront Café. For more information, contact student activities coordinator Eddie Brassart at edward.brassart@tccd.edu.

Sept. 7 Labor Day. There will be no classes.

Sept. 8 NE health services will offer free HIV and/or syphilis testing 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in NSTU 1704A. Testing is confidential and open to the public. The event is co-sponsored by the AIDS Outreach Center. Appointments are encouraged but not required. Walk-ins are welcome. For more information, contact NE health services at 817-515-6056.

Sept. 8 TR students can attend a leadership discussion as part of Café Leadership, a series facilitated by students, 5:30-7 p.m. in the Riverfront Café. Coffee and tea will be provided. Sept. 8 The NE academic learning center and student activities will sponsor the learning center Open House 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Learning Center (NACB 1114). Learning center staff will answer questions about the labs. Participating labs are math lab, language acquisition center, skills center, SOS center, science learning center and the computer learning center. Breakfast and lunch are provided. Sept. 8 NE Transfer Academy will hold the first of three sessions for students 1-2:30 p.m. in NSTU 1202A. Students who complete all three sessions, have at least a 2.5 GPA and have completed 45 credit hours are eligible for a chance to win a $500 transfer scholarship. Sept. 8-11 The TR Discovery Center will host Survival Week 8 a.m.-5 p.m. with information to help students have a successful semester. Workshops covering test-taking and writing skills, stress relief and transfer preparation will be held 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Students can come and go between classes. Sept. 11 Weekend classes begin.

Sept. 11 South will hold a 9/11 memorial 9-10 a.m. on the SSTU patio. There will be a flag ceremony and a tribute in honor of those who lost their lives. For more information, contact student activities coordinator Stephanie Davenport at stephanie.davenport@tccd.edu.

Sept. 12 South Campus will host a Student Organization Conference all day in the Student Center. Student leaders of organizations across campus are invited to attend and develop leadership skills and develop ideas for their groups for the upcoming year.
