Writing contest begins for NE students

The NE Campus English department and humanities division have announced their annual fall writing competition.
All NE students including continuing education, senior education and early college high school students are invited to submit entries in poetry, storytelling, essays and videos.

“English faculty will screen entries in November and cut them in half,” said Rebecca Balcarcel, creative writing club adviser. “The top half will be declared as semifinalists and second-, third- and fourth-place winners.”

The winners will be published in Under The Clock Tower, the department’s literary journal dedicated to publishing student art and literature. The winners’ entries will be displayed in the publication in October 2016, and the top videos chosen will be screened at the October reception in College Hall (NCAB 1111).

“The reception commemorates the chosen students’ creativity that were published in the Under The Clock Tower journal,” Balcarcel said.

The deadline for entries is Nov. 6. All entries should be uploaded to Under the Clock Tower’s website at https://undertheclocktower.submittable.com/submit. For more information, students can contact Balcarcel at rebecca.balcarcel@tccd.edu.
