As a part of its African-American Heritage Month, South student activities will host Black in Business with the Fort Worth Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce Feb. 23.
The chamber’s board president Jamie Grant will talk to students about his experience as a businessman and give them a view into the world of finance.
“There is a lot of work that goes into my job and a lot of juggling tasks,” he said. “And I enjoy what I do.”
Grant said he has plans to do events with other TCC campuses.
“I want to show the students what I have accomplished and urge them to work hard and that they can make it in this world if they do,” he said.
As president of JDG Wealth Management Group LLC, Grant said he offers over a decade of experience and knowledge.
“I used to be a student, so I know what these people are going through, and I hope that they continue toward what they are studying,” he said.
Grant attended Grambling State University and is a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity.
Student development associate Ana Garcia said Grant was recommended by a chamber board member, and she is impressed by his credentials.
“He will bring really good advice for students, especially for the business majors,” she said. “He’s a business owner and a successful man.”
Garcia believes hearing about his experience will be helpful to students.
The event begins at 10 a.m. in the SSTU Forum Room on South Campus. Garcia said the event will be “very interactive” and urges students to ask Grant questions and participate in the conversation.
