NW to premiere disc golf

To celebrate the completed construction of NW Campus’ new disc golf course, the Professional Disc Golf Association will host the Links on the Lake grand opening event April 1-2.

The event will begin at 3 p.m. April 1 with the ribbon cutting and free food, followed by a campuswide introduction to disc golf.

“It is a beautiful tract of land that plays along the Marine Creek Lake side of campus,” said event coordinator and professional disc golf player Jay Reading.

The course will be open for play 2-7 p.m. with discs available for loan and for sale.

Beginners are encouraged to check out the course, which Reading hopes will be packed with new players.

Links on the Lake will continue April 2 with the PDGA C-Tier Tournament starting at 7 a.m.

The tournament will consist of two rounds with 18 holes in which registered participants can win custom trophies for first place.

Participants can select from one of three packages depending on their skill level: the $20 Innova Champion Players Package for TCC students and faculty, which will include one disc, a shirt and a hat; the $40 Intermediate/Advanced Package and the $50 Open Pro Women Masters Package. Pros will also receive a disc.
