SE Campus will host an African-American History Month Exhibit in Art Corridor III in the ESEE wing.
Significant African-American pioneers and artists will be displayed.
The exhibit will also feature the Martin Luther King Timeline created by the SE MLK Committee.
An opening reception for the exhibit will be 10-11 a.m. Feb. 2. Light refreshments will be served.
Along with the exhibit are multiple upcoming events to attend so students can expand their knowledge of black history.
NE government professor Lisa Uhlir will present The Afro-Indian Culture: A Perspective through History 1-2:20 p.m. Feb. 7 in the North Ballroom.
Uhlir’s discussion will include topics such as the social and political consequences of this multi-ethnic group as well as the challenges faced by them both historically and today.
SE history assistant professor Brad Borougerdi will provide students with the lecture presentation Setting the Record Straight 10-11:20 a.m. Feb. 16 in the library classroom.
Borougerdi’s presentation aims to use commentary on general history to debunk the various misconceptions that society has formed about the “Dark Continent.”
The exhibit can help students develop a better idea of African-American heritage and understand Uhlir’s and Borougerdi’s presentations.
