The vote for the fall semester’s Student Government Association will take place April 10 and 11, the NE SGA decided March 22.
The ballots can be found in the NSTU. Applications to run for a position are due March 31.
SGA President Christian Vellegas also talked about the SGA student scholarship, open to any student and based on work in the community. It is part of an initiative of student organizations to help fellow students pay for college.
The open forum included representatives from multiple clubs speaking about upcoming events.
The Dance Club has a car wash scheduled April 8 to raise money for next year. They also have shows planned for 7:30 p.m. May 5 and at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. May 6.
The Human Experience, a new club that meets 1-2 p.m. every Thursday, discusses various topics and deals with personal development in small groups using action steps.
The NE Veterans Association is getting involved with the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. The event will be held at the Panther Pavilion in Fort Worth and will start at 2 p.m. April 15. Raffle tickets can be purchased to win prizes.
The Intersectional Feminist Club, another new club, had its first meeting March 22. The club discusses what feminism means and its effects on the community as well as pros and cons of the movement.
The Minecraft Club needs a server host for next semester to keep the club active. As part of the Big Day of Service, the Minecraft Club will do “art journals” to help struggling children by coloring pictures with uplifting phrases or journaling about fun topics.
Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society for two-year colleges, has its spring induction March 31 and needs volunteers to help with ushering.
As part of the Big Day of Service, student activities has scheduled several projects students can sign up for at vhub.at/northeast or the link on the weekly student email.
The SGA’s next forum will be 1-2 p.m. April 19 in the NSTU.
