Three different styles of artwork will be on display Oct. 15-19 on SE Campus.
On Oct. 15, instructor Kristina Elizondo will discuss the work of Mexican muralists as part of the campus’ Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.
Her presentation at 11:45 a.m. in ESEE 2314 will deal with the Renaissance painting method of buon fresco and painted, large-scale murals. A hands-on activity will be included in which students can create a mural of their own.
“I am giving a talk about a group of artists from Mexico who revolutionized 20th century art and influenced artists throughout the world,” Elizondo said. “I hope that all TCC students who attend the talk will walk away with something, whether it’s a sense of pride in their culture or a greater appreciation of the amazing works of art created by the Mexican muralists.”
Two days later, on Oct. 17, Annette Lawrence, a member of the art faculty at the University of North Texas, will discuss her work at 1 p.m. in the C.A. Roberson Theatre.
“Lawrence is going to talk about how she has developed her work in a series titled Free Paper,” said SE instructional associate Christopher Blay, “and we are going to exhibit three of her works.”
Lawrence’s works will be on view outside the Roberson Theatre through Nov. 9.
Also going on display Oct. 17 will be Architecture+Time: Measuring Space, a collection of 10 kinetic works — sculptures with moving parts — done by Joshua Nason, a member of the University of Texas at Arlington architecture faculty, and his students.
“The focus of their project was to find a way to measure time in architecture,” Blay said.
The exhibit in Art Corridor II will be on display through Nov. 10.
