Now-Feb. 4 TR Campus continues its Take a Student to a Meal Week, a program designed to foster student and faculty/staff interactions outside of the classroom. Faculty who choose to participate should go to the student life center in TRTR 2004A the day they will go to lunch to sign up and receive a voucher.
Feb. 2 SE Campus continues its Club Expo in the Main Commons 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Student groups with 40 or more members will recruit.
Feb. 2 Free HIV/syphilis testing will be given 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in NSTU 1704 on NE Campus. Results will be available a week after testing. Call 817-515-6056 to schedule an appointment.
Feb. 2 The Healthy vs Unhealthy Relationships seminar will take place 11:45 a.m.-12:40 p.m. in ESEC North Ballroom on SE Campus. The event is free and open to the public. Feb. 3 Go Red, in association with National Heart Health Month, will be held 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on TRTR Main Street on TR Campus.
Feb. 4 SE Campus will present a Lunar New Year Celebration 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in ESEC Bistro. The celebration is open and free to the public. The event will be in celebration of the Year of the Rabbit, and information about the lunar new year will be provided. Snacks will also be available for those who attend. Feb. 4 Writing Center Coffee Talks will take place 9 a.m.-10 a.m. Fridays in NACB 1114 on NE Campus. Feb. 4 TR Campus will offer an Information Literacy Certificate class 1-4 p.m. in TREF 1302.
Feb. 5 Students and the community can hone their writing skills at the second annual SNaP Writing Conference on NW Campus. The conference begins at 8 a.m. in WSTU 1303-1305 with a light breakfast and coffee. The conference has two workshop sessions in the morning, followed by a free lunch and question-and-answer period with several published authors. The day will conclude with a keynote speaker.
Feb. 7 Advisement sessions covering the fields of business, management and marketing will be held 1-2 p.m. and 4:30-5:30 p.m. in SBUS 2112 on South Campus. During the sessions, students will receive an information guide that contains details about degree plans, course offerings and class registration. Question-and-answer sessions will follow.
Feb. 8 The results for the South Campus HIV testing done on Feb. 1 will be available 10 a.m.-noon in the SACC health center.
Feb. 8 NW Campus health services will offer a Basic Life Support course on performing CPR with an automated external defibrillator. The course will cost $15, runs 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in WACB 1123 and is open to anyone 18 or older. Call Chelsea Moore at 817-515-7790 for more information or to register.
Feb. 8 NE Campus will host a Heart-Healthy Lunch 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the NSTU Center Corner. Sherree Bennett, nurse and educator for the American Heart Association, will teach students about heart-health numbers and their importance. Attendees will receive a heart-healthy lunch and cookbook. Feb. 9 The National Marrow Donor Program sponsored by South health services will set up a registry table 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the hallway outside of SSTU Living Room on South Campus.
Feb. 9 NE Campus will host the Genetic Update Conference 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in Center Corner (NSTU 1615A). The event presented by Sam Rhine will provide 30-minute updates throughout the morning conference. From 6-7:30 p.m. Rhine will present Recent Advances in Stem Cells Technology and Regenerative Medicine. The event is free for TCC students.
Feb. 10 Sherree Bennett from the American Heart Association will discuss ways to use nutrition and exercise to prevent heart disease at the Going Red for Women luncheon, sponsored by NW Campus health services, 12:30-1:30 p.m. in WACB 1123. Feb. 10 South Campus will hold the Robert Davis Essay Contest. Final deadline for submission in by 4 p.m. Entrants must be enrolled in at least one class on South Campus during the spring 2011 semester. Submission forms can be found in SSTU 1105B. Prizes will be awarded Feb. 28 at the closing ceremony of Black History Month.

Feb. 10-14 SE Campus will host a Valentine’s Day Shopping Spree in the Main Commons 9 a.m.-2 p.m. (4 p.m. Monday). Student organizations will sell stuffed animals, candy hearts and other Valentine merchandise. Profits will go to the organizations.
Feb. 12 Danelle Ellis, TR library services assistant director, will give an encore presentation of Easy Research: Get it Done and Get On with Your Life!, part of the CAS Lunchtime Workshop Series. The presentation starts at noon in the TRTR Discover Room.
Feb. 12 Susan Bragg will present Fall Seven Times, Stand Up Eight! at the Women in New Roles Network meeting 12:30-2 p.m. at the Ol’ South Pancake House in Fort Worth. Bragg has worked with battered women, trauma victims and troubled youth. The meeting is free, but guests must buy their own meal.
