NW Dance Club raises funds, boogies for veteran housing

Faculty and staff have volunteered to rip up the stage and showcase their ballroom moves for a good cause Nov. 7.

The NW Dance Club presents Dancing with the TCC Stars, a fundraiser to benefit Homes for Our Troops. The nonprofit organization helps build housing for returning veterans from Afghanistan and Iraq who have been injured or disabled and need a home accessible to their needs.

The club began sponsoring the organization when the previous NW president lost her brother in Iraq. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to buy nails, help with doors, windows, etc.

Six couples will take the stage to compete, including a faculty or staff member and a NW dance performance student. Defending winner Criminal Justice Training Center assistant coordinator Scott Donaldson will return to compete for first place once again.

The competition will be 12:30-3 p.m. in WSTU 1303. Reservations are not required. Donations will be taken at the door.
