Graduation deadline approaches

Students who hope to graduate need to apply quickly to take part in the college’s commencement ceremony. The deadline is April 1.

To apply to graduate, students may log in to WebAdvisor, find the “Application for Graduation” link under the student window and follow the instructions. If students are unsure whether or not they qualify for graduation, they are advised to see a counselor.

TCC’s commencement ceremony is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. May 11 though graduates are requested to arrive by 5 p.m., according to the commencement section of the TCC website. Students in line for an associate degree or a certificate of completion from a continuing education program are eligible.
As of March 2, according to assistant director of records and reports Vanessa Walker, 1,814 students had both applied to graduate and indicated they would attend the ceremony.

“We’re still taking applications,” Walker said. “We’re anticipating the potential of up to 2,000. ”

Students who will finish their degrees over the summer can fill out a Graduation Walk-Only Approval form, allowing them to walk across the stage without a diploma so they don’t have to wait until next year. However, students will have to be registered to take the classes they’re missing in the summer. Because summer registration doesn’t open until April 15, there is no deadline for walk-only applicants.

Students can get the Graduation Walk-Only Approval from counseling offices on each of the campuses.
