The SE Campus library will host The Literature of Prescription: Charlotte Perkins Gillman and “The Yellow Wall-Paper.” Developed and produced by the National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health, the traveling exhibit consists of six screens that will explore the 19th century feminist author’s semi-autobiography and her experiences after being prescribed the rest cure. Books on the subject will also be displayed.

SE Campus health services will provide free HIV/AIDS screening 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in ESEC 2118.

TR Campus will host the First Week @ Trinity River event. First-time students are welcome from 4 to 6:30 p.m. outside of the Center for Leadership Development for free food and information on how to conquer the first week on TR Campus.

Pastries with the Prez is a chance for students to meet and greet faculty and administrators over bakery treats in the Riverfront Cafe 10-11 a.m. on TR Campus.

A volunteer excursion to the Tarrant Area Food Bank 9-11 a.m. will give TR students and faculty members an opportunity get to know each other. Volunteers will meet at the TR Idea Store. Students can go to http://tccd.volunteerhub.com/ to sign up.

As a recap for the first week, TR Campus students and faculty are invited to talk about their experiences this week at the Riverfront Café noon-1 p.m.

Part one of the Diabetes Empowerment Education Program luncheon series will take place in the SSTU Forum Room on South Campus 12:30-1:30 p.m. Community outreach educator for the JPS Health Network Toya Norton will speak. Drinks and a snack will be provided.

NE Campus will present Student Success Seminar: Navigating myTCC and WebAdvisor 12:30-1:30 p.m. in NSTU 1615. Jeannete Jacobs, academic support services coordinator, will help students familiarize themselves with TCC’s learning management system. The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive and marrow donor registry 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on South Campus. The blood drive will be SSTU patio, and the marrow registry will be in the SSTU foyer outside 1102.

The NW Veterans Connect kickoff event will be 12:30-2 p.m. in the Michael Saenz Conference Room (WACB 1123). The program will focus on helping students connect to faculty who have served as well.

The Diabetes Empowerment Education Program “Brown Bag” Series will be 12:30-1:30 p.m. in WTLO 4104C on NW Campus. The series will cover the importance of self-care, nutrition and physical activity for people who are diabetic and those who are at risk (one does not have to be diabetic to attend). Sept. 18
Employers on Campus, a NW Campus event 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the WTLO lobby, will give students an opportunity to network with employers and learn more about what types of jobs they are promoting. This venue will focus only on companies that have current job openings. Students are encouraged to dress professionally as they would for job interviews.
