The second round of SE intramural basketball continued with wins for I Work and Blackout March 13.
I Work played against the Chupacabaras’ run-and-gun style of offense. The Chupacabaras shot the ball well and made four three-point shots.
I Work player Sean Hall said he played an aggressive game, and unlike the last game, he attacked and slashed to the rim.
Hall also said he wanted to get to the free-throw line more.
“Last game was just a bad game for me,” Hall said. “This game, I went more to the hole this time as opposed to last game where I shot so many threes.”
I Work rebounded well as it grabbed 14 boards on offense. I Work player Quentin Walker hit a couple of three-pointers to put his team ahead 17-16 with 30 seconds to go.
Blackout player Quinton Godfrey, who shot well throughout the game, tried to hit the game-winning shot but missed. I Work won 17-16.
“It was close, and at least the referees didn’t call fouls. They let both of us play,” he said. “Just came up a tad bit short. Can’t do nothing about that.”
The Ballers and Blackout played in a close game, but neither team played much defense.
Blackout player Kevin Olabode shot well from outside to keep the game tight.
Helder Labato of the Ballers looked for his shot early and came through late. Labato put his team up 14-13 with a pair of free throws with two minutes to go.
But Blackout scored a layup toward the end of the game to win 15-14.
Olabode said Blackout played hard enough to get the victory.
“We hustled more than they did,” he said.
