As part of TCC’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations, guest speaker Raul Magdaleno will speak 6-8:30 p.m. Oct. 6 on TR Campus.
Doug Peak, SE Campus director of student development services, said he met Magdaleno two or three years ago and was intrigued by his story.
Magdaleno went from being told that he was not college material to graduating from community college as valedictorian. Now he works in diversity and outreach for Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts.
“This is a story of success for students to hear,” Peak said.
Dr. Magdalena de la Teja, NE Campus vice president for student development services, said the event aims to motivate the Latino student community through the story of his own life. She said she hopes students learn what is available on campus for them.
To get free tickets in advance, students can visit the student activities office on any campus.
