The South Campus library has features no other TCC library has: the Ralph Man Popular Reading collection and Drake’s Study Break Café.
Ralph Man Popular Reading is a collection that caters to the leisure readers of South Campus. Drake’s Study Break Café gives students a place to have a snack while they study and was named for Ted Drake, former South Campus library director.
The South library is named after the founding president of the TCC board of trustees, Jenkins Garrett, who was a prominent local attorney, historian and philanthropist. He passed away in January.
The Jenkins Garrett Library will join the national observance through Communities Thrive @Your Library, a weeklong display. The exhibit, on the entry level of the library, focuses on six areas of interest to the community and displays a sampling of books the library has available in those areas. The highlighted areas include basic education, career development, computer access, recreational enjoyment, financial planning and personal enrichment. The library will also offer bookmarks that match the poster associated with the display.
