NE ceramics students and others can participate in workshops with a sculptor renowned for his work in traditional Apache pottery.
Sheldon Nuñez-Velarde from Arizona will lead the workshops 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. Nuñez-Velarde and the students will work with micaceous clay, which is traditionally used by the Jicarilla Apaches of New Mexico and often contains gold flakes.
Some of Nuñez-Velarde’s work will be for sale.
Students are free to come and observe throughout the event. Participating in the workshop costs $100 for one day and $140 for both days.
