Competition was fierce at SE’s closest-to-the-pin golf competition March 2 hosted by event coordinator Christina Pumphrey and SE intramural director Shahzad Nazir.“Golf is peaceful. And frustrating. Both at the same time,” Nazir said. “It is probably the only sport where you can play terribly and still enjoy your day.”
Richard Brown, a member of the SE staff, took home the honors with one of his three strokes landing the ball only a few yards away from the pin, which was positioned about 120 yards away from the tee.
“Golf is addictive. Very addictive,” he said.
Brown’s first-place win came with a brand new driver.
Second place went to SE student Aras Saifadean, who decided only a few minutes before to participate. He won a gym bag. All of the participants walked away with a sleeve of golf balls.
