College is a serious investment these days; few can pay for all their books, tuition and lab fees without stumbling into debt.
Luckily for NW students, help is on its way.
The NW Campus counseling center will sponsor a seminar on financial aid at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6.
Trina Smith Patterson, NW director of financial aid, will speak at 11:15 a.m. in the Michael Saenz Conference Center (WACB 1123).
“We are holding this seminar not only to inform the student body about financial aid and the programs available but also how to remain in good standing once already in the program,” she said.
Many students currently taking advantage of financial aid services are not aware of the restrictions and requirements that must be maintained and met, Patterson said.
“Some students don’t seem to realize that dropping a class can affect your financial aid status or that a 2.0 GPA must be maintained,” she said.
“Students need to be more aware of these issues,” Patterson said.
The seminar also will cover planning for services, eligibility and applications.
