Calling all once-proud high school football stars.
The NE Campus’ annual flag football league begins Saturday, Oct. 6, and runs through Nov. 10.
Registration can be done in the NE HPE office (NHPE 2111A) or in the equipment check out room (NHPE 1104A) through Tuesday, Oct. 2.
“ Students can register either as a team or as an individual,” NE HPE instructor Kevin Harper said.
“ In order to register as a team, you must have four players. If you sign up individually, you will be registered as a free agent.”
The league, which will be a four-on-four competition, usually features a healthy number of teams.
“ In the past, we’ve had as few as 16 or as many as 20 teams,” Harper said.
How many weeks the action will last will be determined by how many teams sign up, Harper said.
“ Each team will play one game a week, but there will be eight to 10 games a week,” he said. “If it lasts five to six weeks, each team will play five or six games.”
All those students hoping to recreate the competitive aspect of their football-playing days may have a unique opportunity, as well.
“ We’re trying to strike a deal with South Campus for their winner to play ours,” Harper said. “It would be kind of cool if all four campus winners could play each other.”
