Students from multiple disciplines will perform Night Solos on NW Campus’ Cinco Palms Stage Sept. 27.
“This show is a collaborative effort between the faculty in dance, drama and music,” dance associate professor Amy Jennings said.
Performances are solo-specific, though some soloists may have accompanists play live while they perform, Jennings said.
“The beautiful aspect of this event is that performers get to choose their theme to present,” Jennings said. “As solo artists, they are able to showcase their aesthetic and artistic expression.”
Every year, Jennings looks forward to the event.
“I always look forward to seeing the performing artists see each other in our craft,” she said. “So often, we are divided by even our own disciplines, and this venue allows us to support one another and be inspired by one another.”
The amphitheater is intimate, and they designed the theme to fit the space and showcase solo artists, she said.
Jennings said people should come because art helps them connect in the world with one another through the beauty of movement, music and storytelling.
Night Solos will start at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 27 on the Cinco Palms Stage.
“It is a treat in the fall as Texas weather cools down in the evenings and we gather together on common ground to see, hear and feel what we need to feed our souls,” she said.
