SE Campus continues its Black History Month celebration with a dream.
Student activities honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with Sharing the Dream, a multicultural celebration Saturday, Feb. 10.
The festival is co-sponsored by the City of Arlington’s MLK Committee.
The program, originally scheduled for Jan. 13, was cancelled because of inclement weather.
” Student activities received an overwhelming amount of calls in regards to the program,” Nita Halliburton, student activities coordinator, said. “The only thing we had to do was decide on a new date.”
Angelique Tegé, host of WFAA’s Metro, will emcee the program.
Sharing the Dream will also feature speakers, singers and dancers from local churches and dance troupes.
In addition to the festival, New Horizons will sponsor a silent auction in the Main Commons 3:30-6 p.m. featuring the graphite drawings and writings of Darrell Whitsell, SE Campus senior office assistant for career and employment services.
All proceeds from the sale of Whitsell’s artwork will support the Women in New Roles scholarship fund.
The free program will be in the North Ballroom, 3:30-5 p.m. and is open to the public. Refreshments will be provided following the entertainment.
