Oct. 1 The NW Bridge Program will present Study Skills 11 a.m.-noon in WFAB 2608 as part of its fall workshop series. Attendees will learn strategies to improve comprehension when studying and tools to use to study effectively. The workshop is open to all students.

Oct. 1 Students can learn how to manage their financial aid in the Living Debt Free with a Good Credit Score seminar 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Larry Darlage Center Corner (NSTU 1615A) on NE Campus.

Oct. 1 NE students can observe or participate in a Student Government Association forum 2-3:30 p.m. in the Galley (NSTU 1506).

Oct. 1-2 Community partners of TR Campus including nonprofits and K-12 schools will promote their volunteer opportunities for students, faculty and staff 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Idea Store.

Oct. 2 Students, counseling staff and other health-related professionals can see the presentation Connecting the Dots by director of pharmacy and corporate pharmacy manager Rich Rayl 1-4 p.m. in the Larry Darlage Center Corner (NSTU 1615A) on NE Campus. Rayl will review common drug classes used to treat psychiatric illness and help attendees understand the mechanism of action of medications in each category, recognize side effects and adverse reactions associated with each class and the relationship between diagnosis and medication treatment. Licensed professionals who attend will receive three contact hours. Registration is $21 for professionals, free for students and is required. Oct. 2 The NW counseling department will host How to Forgive When You Can’t Forget noon-1 p.m. in the Michael Saenz Conference Center (WACB 1123). Attendees will discover techniques to use when healing from arguments or abuse from a loved one and ways to achieve forgiveness. Oct. 8 South Campus health services will sponsor the Carter BloodCare Donor Drive 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the SSTU Patio. Donors should be healthy, weigh at least 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old with a photo ID. Walk-ins are welcome. Oct. 8 NW health services will offer a CPR class 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in WTLO 4104C. The class fee is $15. Students who complete the course will receive Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association. Registration is required. Oct. 8 The SE Success Center will sponsor the Reach! Success Series 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the North Ballroom. Oct. 8 NE health services will sponsor a health fair 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Students and staff can get free health screenings for HIV, syphilis, vision, body mass index, fitness, cholesterol, blood pressure and spinal analysis. A Carter BloodCare blood drive will happen simultaneously 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in a mobile bus outside of NSTU and in the Galley (NSTU 1506).
