Students in need receive assistance through program

TCC students who struggle to continue with their studies in community college have a program to help serve them.

Stay the Course is a national program offered through Catholic Charities of Fort Worth on TR Campus since 2013 and NW this fall.

“This isn’t so much an application-based program as much as we’re looking for students who need the help,” program coordinator Courtney Cunningham said.

Students who fit into Stay the Course’s candidate requirements received an email or a physical letter through the mail.

“Students who are eligible for the program are transfer-eligible, have less than 30 hours, are currently enrolled in six hours and are financially eligible through Pell Grants,” she said.

Cunningham said both campuses have case management staff to assist.

“They help students see if they’ve been added to the list or if they received a letter or email,” she said.

These staff members can be found in WCTS 2314B and C on NW and in the sixth-floor adjunct and faculty offices on TR.

Students are encouraged to answer the invitation sent to them by the end of the month.
