South dancers will present three concerts April 29-30in the SPAC Carillon Theatre on South Campus.

Gypsy Ingram, South dance associate professor, has been working with her students to prepare for the sixth year of concerts.
“We started with just a couple classes in 2004, and we have grown to 13 technique classes with two resident companies,” she said.
The Informal Concert will be at 2:30 p.m. April 30. General admission price is $1.
“The Informal Concert is a presentation of all the students in our technique classes,” Ingram said. “We want to give them an opportunity to show their friends and families what they have learned. We think it is important to show off what they have learned.”
Ingram said more than 100 students will perform.
The Kaleidoscope Dance Concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. April 29-30. The performance is free for TCC students, faculty and staff and $5 for general admission.
“The sixth annual dance is work presented by our two resident companies: Senior and Junior Velocity dance companies,” Ingram said. “This is work they have been working on all semester.”
In the first act, students will perform two big pieces Ingram choreographed for them. The second act will highlight the students’ own choreography.
Both concerts will feature modern dance, hip-hop, ballet and traditional jazz.
“We hope by doing these concerts, people will become more aware of the dance program and maybe sign up for a class,” she said. “Anyone can register for a dance class. Typically, dance classes fill up early, so we recommend you sign up early.”
