Event keeps giving

NW Campus gave back to the local community through a financial donation to local organizations over the summer.

Proceeds from NW’s Earth Day 5/10K Run in April were donated with $350 going to Community Link and $270 to the Marine Creek Nature Discovery Center Land Scholars College Scholarship, said NW kinesiology learning lab manager Sarah Matlock.

“While the Earth Day 5/10K is free to all current TCC students, faculty and staff, we wanted to allow community members to get involved and chose to charge a small fee for these participants,” Matlock said.

Matlock explained that Community Link was chosen because of their involvement in the Community Food Market.

“The funds go to providing protein in the Community Market we hold every month with TCC,” said Community Link director of operations Lara Gay. “Thanks to partners like TCC NW, we are able to provide more opportunities for families to have access to the healthy food their families need at no cost.”

The donation check was presented to the recipients at the July Community Food Market.

“We hope to maintain this policy in future years so we can continue to contribute to local organizations and charities that do so much for our community,” Matlock said.
