ART

Now-Feb. 28 The Photography Faculty and Staff Biennial Exhibit is on display 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday in College Hall (NCAB 1111) on NE Campus. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Now-March 7 NE Campus’ art department presents Breathing Air Squeezing Clay in the J. Ardis Bell Library. The ceramics show includes work from advanced students in all ceramics classes. The work is on display Monday-Sunday during library operating hours.

Now-March 22 Artist Letitia Huckaby’s exhibit Redress, a collection of photo works and illustrations, will be in Art Corridor II on SE Campus. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday-Saturday. For more information, contact SE curator Christopher Blay at 817-515-3406.

Now-March 22 A new art exhibit that features abstract sculptures is up in the East Fork Gallery, on the first floor of TREF. Good Luck Getting Lost incorporates found objects by the artist Peter Colley, Texas Wesleyan art professor. Most sculptures are ceramic and represent specific moments in life noticed by the artist. The gallery is open during all TR Campus hours.

 

THEATER

Now-March 2 The NE Playhouse presents a modernized, beach-style production of Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost, a comedy about a king who has sworn off romantic involvement only to fall in love. Performances are 7 p.m. with a 2 p.m. Saturday matinee in the NFAB theater. Tickets are free for TCC students, faculty and staff, $6 for general public and $3 for seniors and non-TCC students. Now-March 16 The Artisan Center Theater in Hurst presents Thoroughly Modern Millie, a musical set in New York City in 1922 and filled with frisky flappers and dashing leading men. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturdays. Ticket prices are $14 for adults, seniors and students and $7 for children Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and $18 for adults, $16 for seniors and students and $9 for children Fridays and Saturdays. Now-March 16 The Artisan Center Theater in Hurst presents Pinkalicious, a musical about a girl who turns pink from head to toe after eating too many pink cupcakes. Performances are 10 a.m. Saturdays and 4:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays. Additional 10 a.m. performances will be Tuesday, March 5, and March 9-16. Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $5 for children. Now-March 24 Stage West Theatre in Fort Worth presents The Taming of the Shrew, a new look on Shakespeare’s iconic comedy about the eternal divide between men and women. Now-March 10 Theatre Arlington presents Oz!, the magical trip of Dorothy and her quest to find home. March 2-10 Casa Mañana presents Camelot, a trip back in time to a kingdom of festivals and magic. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. There will be special showings at 2 p.m. March 2 and 7 p.m. March 3. Ticket prices range from $40-$85. This show contains brief nudity and is suitable for mature audiences. March 8, 9 The Pantagleize Theatre in Fort Worth presents Friday Funnies, a sketch comedy performed by Mike and Amy West and their zany troupe. MUSIC

March 1 A string ensemble performance will feature a Rite of Strings concert at 5 p.m. and the presentation String Music Through the Centuries at 7 p.m. in College Hall (NCAB 1111) on NE Campus. Attendees will experience a wide range of music selections performed by students on violin, viola and cello. This event is free and open to the public. March 6 The Sammons Center for the Arts in Dallas will present The Leigh Tomlinson Memorial Showcase, an evening of live jazz entertainment that will honor the memory of Tomlinson and feature two talented female vocalist. The performance begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $40 and include valet parking, coffee, wine, beer, soft drinks and a light meal. Seating is general admission. SPECIAL EVENTS

Now-March 7 The TR Drama Club is currently holding auditions for a talent show production. Students wanting to display their artwork, musical skills, dance sequences, acting or artistic creations are welcome to bring their submissions to the Riverfront Café on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at noon and 3 p.m. The final production will showcase March 28-30.
