NW class to learn hip-hop

By Haneen Khatib/nw news editor

NW will present free hip-hop classes with well-known choreographer and dancer Lamesha Vine. This isn’t Vine’s first time teaching a class at NW.

“We had a master class back in December with Lamesha Vine,” said Lacreacia Sanders, associate professor of dance. “Her class was a big hit, and students requested to have her back.”

Several others helped in getting Vine to return to NW.

“With the help of student activities and humanities division, we are bringing her in for a week to teach classes and choreograph on the companies,” she said.

Vine has worked with several celebrities like Snoop Dogg, Ciara and Shakira.

“She is currently living and working in LA and is originally from Dallas,” Sanders said.

Vine won’t be only teaching classes.

“She is scheduled to teach nine classes during the week and is choreographing a piece on the Mosaic touring company for its Oct. 21 concert, which is called Mosaic in Motion,” Sanders said.

Vine has performed at the MTV Movie Awards and American Music Awards, traveled to Japan to teach dance workshops and has also hosted a website called socal.com.

Classes are 8:20 p.m. Oct. 5 and 7 and 12:30-1:50 p.m. Oct. 6 in WHPE 1103 and are free to all TCC students.
