I take exception to the “Safety-conscious racer” article that appeared in The Collegian, not because it was poorly written but rather that it was written at all.
I am a car enthusiast, mostly sports cars. The streets of any city are not the place.
I am also a biker of sorts. Racing a motorcycle on any city street in any city is foolish behavior. It is illegal and dangerous, not only to those who race, but to those of us who use the city streets and freeways for what they were intended.
Even though the student claims he doesn’t rave, kicking it to 100 mph from time to time on city streets just for fun is boastful, dangerous, and illegal.
To make matters even worse, and this I suppose is the real issue for me, the article appears as the headline article in the Sports section, as if it was a sanctioned sporting event to be considered worthy of our time and interest.
