As part of the Changing America series, a film discussion of Freedom Riders will be held 10-11:30 a.m. Feb. 17 in the Judith Carrier Library on SE Campus.
SE government instructor Ruthann Geer will introduce the documentary, which addresses specific areas of government and the history of the Civil Rights Movement during the Jim Crow era.
Excerpts of the documentary will be played with intermittent discussion throughout.
“It is an opportunity to think about the deeper significance of the Civil Rights Movement, how far we’ve come and how far we still have to go,” she said.
The presentation was made possible last year when the SE library received a National Endowment Grant, making this the second year of the presentation.
Geer, who has taught at the college for 10 years, also presents the documentary to her government and Texas History classes.
