Now-Feb. 28 The TR Discovery Center has a display outside its office commemorating Martin Luther King Jr. and his “I Have a Dream” speech. Students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to engage with the display and share their own dreams and thoughts.
Feb. 22 The NE Campus history department will host assistant professor Andrew Torgut from the University of North Texas 12:30-2 p.m. in the Darlage Center Corner (NSTU 1615A). Torgut will discuss the efforts made to desegregate Mansfield High School in the late 1950s. Pizza will be provided.
Feb. 22 South’s Sigma Kappa Delta will host an open mic read-in 12:30-2 p.m. in the SLIB Drake Cafe. Students can share their favorite passage from an African-American writer.
Feb. 22 Leo Rucker will be on NE Campus 3-5:50 p.m. in NFAB 1314 to give a lesson in painting for painting students only. Everyone in attendance will have a chance to win one of Rucker’s original hand-painted collector’s egg gourds. A meet and greet with Rucker and members of the NE art department will be at 6 p.m. in the NFAB lobby. Refreshments will be served.
Feb. 23 A Blue Texas book discussion will occur noon-1 p.m. in the TR Tahita Fulkerson Library (TREF 2105). Author Max Krochmal chronicles the past struggles for marginalized minorities who came together to seek empowerment through demands for integration, economic justice and other social justice issues central to the civil rights movement.

Feb. 27, 28 NE Campus student activities will host screenings of Remember the Titans 6-8:30 p.m. on the 27th and 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on the 28th in NSTU 1506.
