Student Ulysses Lozano earned a $35,000-a-year scholarship from Baylor University for his achievements in academics and piano performance. He has studied on several TCC campuses.

May 3 The NE writing center will hold scholarship essay writing workshops 9-9:30 a.m. and 5-5:30 p.m. in NACB 1114.

May 3 The TR Transfer Center will host a come-and-go Transfer Complete Celebration 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Riverfront Cafe. Students can have their photos taken with their university’s pennant. To receive a keepsake, RSVP with the TR Transfer Center (TREF 1503C) and bring a copy of the acceptance letter or email.

May 3 Artist Machiko Hanafusa will demonstrate Japanese calligraphy 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on TRTR Main Street. An interactive exhibit will showcase traditional and modern Japanese calligraphy. Hanafusa’s original artwork and calligraphy supplies will be on display.

May 4 As part of NW Campus’ Viva Northwest!, a discussion about the history of Cinco de Mayo and the relationship between the U.S. and Mexico will be held 2-3 p.m. in the Language Lab (WFAB 2615). Winners of the poster contest will also be announced. May 4 A Cultural Dance Showcase will take place 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the TR Riverfront Cafe. The Grace Hula Dance Company, the University of Texas at Arlington Korean Culture Association and the Lion Dance team will perform traditional and modern pieces, providing insight into the history and tradition of Polynesian, Korean and Vietnamese cultures. May 4 The Get Back on Track and Finish the Race seminar will run 6-7:30 p.m. in the Community Room (NBSS 1103) on NE Campus. The seminar will assist students with identifying their learning styles and teach them learning strategies and ways to study. This seminar will also cover how the GPA impacts the overall college experience and provide strategies to boost one’s GPA. May 5 Dodgeball will be played on NW Campus 2-5 p.m. Drinks and snacks will be provided. Check-in with a valid student ID will be done at the start of the event in the WHPE gym. May 8 SE student activities will provide access to materials needed for final exams 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. in the Commons. May 8-11 NE student activities will host the Finals Finale 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 10:30 a.m.-noon Thursday in the NTAB lobby, NSTU North Hallway, the Galley (NSTU 1506) and the chessboard area. To help students relax during finals, student activities will have snacks, Scantrons, pencils and activities, like movies and chalking the sidewalk, for students all week.
