Piano recital highlights music of Czech composers

A NE piano recital on Feb. 21 will include examples of more than seven Czech composers over a two-century time span.

Pianist David Yeomans said his concert will showcase music that has had considerable influence on the more familiar composers of the 19th and 20th centuries.

“Czech composers have given us some of the best-kept secrets in the literature of the piano,” he said. “From the end of the Baroque era to the present day, composers from the Czech lands have produced a wealth of outstanding piano music.”

Yeomans combined both sight and sound to help enhance the quality of the concert as well as the viewer’s experience.

“Visual images and bullet points on the screen will bring to life the composers represented and the pieces being played,” he said. “I invite you to revisit these and other Czech composers and explore the vast treasures of their piano music as well as their operas, art songs, chamber music and orchestral works.”

The performance will begin with coffee served at 9:30 a.m. and end at 10:50 a.m. in College Hall (NCAB 1111). The recital is free and open to the public. For more information, contact NE music instructor Karen Parsons at 817-515-6567 or karen.parsons@tccd.edu.
