Spring offers TCC students the chance to participate in basketball and soccer leagues, dodgeball tournaments and many other intramural sports.
Many TCC students are former high school athletes, and intramurals can be a good way for them to stay active in athletics.
SE student Isaiah Battles is ready for SE’s basketball league that will start Feb. 20.
“Basketball is one of my favorite sports,” he said. “It’ll be fun to compete against all of the other talented athletes on campus.”
South intramural sports coordinator J.T. Henderson looks forward to getting more participation and building a family through intramurals. He thinks new students can benefit from them.
“A lot of times, new students don’t know anyone on campus,” he said. “Intramurals can help them meet new friends and find a sense of community on campus.”
SE intramural coordinator and kinesiology instructor Shahzad Nazir has high expectations for this semester.
“We are anticipating more students than last spring, due especially to more student organizations entering teams,” he said. “While each event is competitive, they are still fun for students of all skill levels.”
