Seminar will teach students to love themselves

By Liliana Green

Being college students is more than earning degrees. It’s learning who they are and what they want in life, the program director at Addison’s Center for Discovery believes.

Counselor Sara Cantu will conduct Love Yourself, a workshop devoted to teaching students how to love themselves by recognizing their individuality, at 6 p.m. March 8 in the NE Campus Community Room (NBSS 1103).

The workshop provides “an opportunity to take time for ourselves, appreciate who each one of us is and what makes each one of us part of a group of people with amazing potential,” she said. “The view you have of yourself and the view you have of the world forms the opportunity for transformation of yourself and your community.”

Topics of discussion will include media and culture, overcoming barriers of self-doubt and learning to love and be kind to every part of individuality, Cantu said. Students can be hands-on in creating a culture of love and kindness and experience new ways to think and grow, she said.

Students interested in attending are asked to arrive 10 minutes early and are advised to wear comfortable shoes and clothes they do not mind wearing while using water-based paint. Students need to visit the Volunteer Hub at http://tccdne.volunteerhub.com/events/index to register for the workshop.
