Boots to Suits will offer veteran and military-connected students resume assistance and interviewing skills 2:30-4 p.m. Sept. 19 in the OWTL building at Alliance Airport.
The event, which is a collaboration between NW Campus’ veterans success center and career services, is targeted specifically to help veterans incorporate their military experience into their resumes, NW veterans counselor Anna Hinman said.
“Military resumes are so different than civilian, and so it’s really just offering that support,” she said.
Veterans can also learn other skills to help in a job search at the event, NW student development specialist Cassie Fennel said.
“We talk to them about business etiquette,” she said. “We talk about interview skills.”
These services are also available to all students during the semester through career services. Students can either email or meet in-person for assistance, Fennel said.
Students have many things to think about when trying to make their resume unique, NW career services coordinator Tracy Williams said.
“No two resumes are going to be the same, and they shouldn’t,” she said. “[Students] really do need a friend in the resume business.”
